A jazzy musical revue that harkens back to the 1950s and a tantalizing technicolor adventure down the yellow brick road to Oz will kick off the upcoming 2019-2020 season at the NorShor Theatre, presented by The Duluth Playhouse, but first, we’ll be hosting auditions for each show

SMOKEY JOE’S CAFE
- AUDITIONS: Saturday, May 11 from 10am-2pm
- CALLBACKS: Saturday, May 11 between 3-6pm
- SEEKING: Seeking a diverse cast of singers and dancers (18+). Performers of all races, genders, and ethnicities are encouraged to audition. All actors will receive some pay. Union and non-union welcome.

- Sign up for a 5-minute audition slot online when the SignUp becomes available on Saturday, April 27.
- If you do not know when you can come, feel free to attend without signing up – you will be seen between slots.

- REHEARSALS:
- Tentative start date of August 13, 2019.
- Rehearsals will be Tuesday-Friday, 6pm-10pm, and Saturdays between 10-4pm.
- If actors are available during the weekday, some rehearsals may take place outside this schedule.
- Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, will be Tech/Dress Rehearsals (Monday, Sept. 16 day off).

- September 19-22, September 26-29, and October 3-6 (Thursday-Saturday @ 7:30pm, and Sundays @ 2pm)
- Additional performances may be added Wednesday, September 25 and/or Sunday matinees at2pm.

This refreshing, sizzling-hot production of a show, will bring sensational rock and roll songs to a new generation.
The Grammy Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Smokey Joe’s Cafe made history as Broadway’s longest running musical revue and celebrates the best songs of the legendary songwriting duo, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Their generation-defining songs climbed the Billboard charts and provided hit after hit for icons like Elvis Presley, Ben E. King, The Coasters, and The Drifters.
With themes of love won, lost and imagined, their songs touched global audiences with wit and emotion. Audiences will be treated to more than 30 show-stopping tunes including classics like “On Broadway,” “Yakety Yak,” “Charlie Brown,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Hound Dog,” “Love Potion #9,” “Spanish Harlem,” and “Stand by Me.”
