Legacy Gifts

Legacy Gifts are one of the easiest and most flexible ways to give. While this involves longer-term planning, a gift made through your will can benefit Duluth Playhouse at the NorShor Theatre in years to come. Can I use my IRA Charitable Rollover to support the NorShor?

You may be able to make a gift to the NorShor Theatre from your individual retirement account and enjoy tax savings. Under the Protecting Americans From Tax Hikes Act of 2015, Americans who meet the guidelines below may give IRA funds to the Playhouse without paying federal income tax. Guidelines: You must be 70½ or older. You may distribute any amount up to $100,000 in a calendar year to charity as long as it is completed by December 31 of the year you intend to make the charitable rollover.

Can I make an In-Kind donation?

In-kind gifts are a valuable way to support our theatre without monetary contributions. By donating goods or services directly to us, you make a tangible impact on our operations and programs. Your in-kind gifts help us reduce expenses and enhance the quality of our productions, educational initiatives, and community outreach efforts.

Can I make a stock donation?

Yes, you may be able to make a gift to the NorShor Theatre from your publicly traded stocks. If you’ve held the stock for more than one year, you can make a gift of publicly traded stock and avoid paying capital gains tax on the transaction. Upon your authorization, your broker can make the transaction and will inform Duluth Playhouse.

How do I get my company to match my donation?

Take your giving to the next level with a matching gift. Many companies offer matching incentives for charitable giving to current employees and retirees. By seeking a matching gift from your employer, you could double your support of the NorShor. Donation matches are often dollar to dollar, and some employee match programs even match your volunteer hours! Check with your employer’s HR or Payroll department to see if they have a matching gift program and how to take advantage of it.

Can I make a contribution via a Donor Advised Fund?

We accept Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs). A DAF, which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Duluth Playhouse at the NorShor Theatre. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable grants. Talk with your local community foundation today! CREDIT CARD: Online donations are the most secure way to pay by credit card and allow you to select the campaign you want to support. You may also call the Box Office at 218-733-7555 to make a credit card donation over the phone. CHECKS: You can indicate in the memo field that you’d like to support the preservation of the NorShor Theatre.
